Latvia will be provided with gas for the heating season, this is confirmed by earlier calculations, Economy Minister Ilze Indriksone said, commenting on Gazprom’s statement to stop gas exports to Latvia.
According to her, Latvia did not count on gas flows from Russia at all.
„Of course, we cannot say whether the gas that is in the Inčukalns gas storage ( Latvia, the only UGS facility in the Baltic States – IF ) will be sold to us, because there is a free market, but the volume that is now in the gas storage is historically not the smallest,” the minister noted.
„Gazprom” said that July 30 stopped gas supplies to Latvia in connection with the buyer’s violation of the terms of selection.
According to the group’s reports, in 2020 it supplied 1.622 billion cubic meters of gas to Latvia, in 2019 – 1.664 billion cubic meters.
