Italy will not need in the foreseeable future to introduce radical measures to save gas consumed by industrial enterprises, Minister of Environmental Transformation Roberto Cingolani said on television.
„In the short term, in 2022 and 2023, the reduction in supply as far as Russian gas is concerned will be compensated by supplies from Algeria. And there is no need for measures to significantly restrain the demand for gas from the industrial sector,” he explained.
In his opinion, after the coming winter, „it will be possible to start making gas reserves more efficiently than we are currently doing.”
A day earlier, Chingolani assured that Italy by the coming winter will almost cease to depend on gas supplies from Russia. According to his forecast, in 2023 Italy will not be dependent on Russian gas supplies at all.
